“The Perch”

Although the perch is the hallmark of many a quaint birdhouse, birds do not need them to access the house and perch actually helps other birds or predators who may harass or sometimes kill the babies.  Like these two Starlings. Natural cavities such as tree trunks do not have perches, so birds that use nest boxes don’t need a perch either. As a result of comments from many of my customers, I have decided that the protection of the birds using my birdhouses takes priority and my designs are no longer being created with perches.
